find mean,variance, and standard deviation using scientific calculator

Use the MODE key to enter the REG Mode and enter 1 to choose linear regression when you want to perform variance calculation.

Eg: find the mean, variance and standard deviation for 1, 2, 3, 4, 5

Enter the numbers: 1 M+ 2 M+ 3 M+ 4 M+ 5 M+

The function of M+ here is to memorize all the data you have key in.

Warning: don’t enter the equal key yet and don’t ever enter AC key to delete your data! Use your DEL key.

Finished key in your data?

Now enter SHIFT key and press 2

Then follow the following steps:

1. to find the mean of your data, enter 1 then enter =

2. to find the standard deviation for sample, enter 3 then enter =

3. to find the variance, square the answer you got from step 2 by enter x² key.
